Author's Biography
Élysée K. Mani (born May 8, 1996) is an Australian author, writer, poet, philosopher and artist. She is of Congolese and Israeli origin. In April of 2008 she permanently settled in Brisbane, Australia. The ever talented woman began writing at the age five as an escape to deal with the constant instability she faced in her childhood, and in so doing she discovered her gift of writing, and she also found a real passion for books, storytelling and literature. She attended various primary schools where she excelled tremendously. While in high school, she grew a passion for theatre which encouraged her to audition and perform for the Queensland theatre company. She went on to pursuit theatre and film for a few years, but she ultimately chose to focus on her studies in the faculty of health and medicines at the Australian Catholic University. She's both a qualified dental hygienist, and Phlebotomist.
Despite being discouraged all her life to pursuit a career in any form of art, in March of 2017 she reached out to potential literary agents to represent her creative written works to book publishing houses in the hopes of becoming an established author, but unfortunately her efforts failed to come into fruition. However, the overwhelming rejection only ignited a spark of curiosity and interest in the possibility that she could develop a fulfilling career through her gift of writing. Two years later on her 23rd birthday in May of 2019, she decided to reach out to various publishing houses on her own with the intension to publish her debut book “Insomnia” as a response to an ex partner who called her “a lazy failing waste”. She was rejected by 237 publishers initially, but one of the publishing houses went on to give her a publishing deal only to change their mind three months before the release of her debut poetry collection. Nevertheless, she went on to self-publish her debut book “Insomnia” on January 31st of 2021 which sold over multiple units since its release. In the last decade she has perfected her craft, and she has since written multiple books, plays, and songs which are yet to be published and released. She endeavours to release more books shortly, as well as to produce short films in the future. Élysée is also a brilliant and a successful abstract artist. Her original and modern paintings are a true reflection of her gift of art.
She currently resides in Queensland where she also runs a non for profit organisation “God’sEye” which she founded in June of 2020 to assist Australian women affected by family and domestic violence as she herself has also experienced both form of violence. She is currently in the works to launch her own publishing house which will endeavour to help rising authors excel in their careers.
